This is the first time I have read a book by the author (Denise Jeffries)and I have to say that I really enjoyed the book. In this book you will find laugher, sadness and love. It has romance & suspense.Sergeant Dominique Rue is still upset over the death of her partner. Dominique is at the point where she need wants to give up everything but her captain talks her out of it so in th mean time Dominique head up to a secluded place where she wants to be left alone. In come Jericho who every summer goes to his family home for some R&R. While there he is surprise to find out that he actually have a neighbor and being Jericho who is NOSY neighbor goes over to try and be friendly. We all have things in our past and with Dominique she is trying to cope with the loss of her partner who she was in love with but never gotten the chance to tell him. Jericho is dealing with something that has happen in his past when he was a teenager. The suspense will keep you turning the pages and you will see the love that build between Dominique & Jericho. I tell you ladies Dominique give him a run for his money, but you know what Jericho is just the man to catch. He doesn't back down. I will be purchasing more book by Denise Jeffries since I know I am going to enjoy reading this book.

It's this premise that tortures the heroine in Denise P. Jeffries' WHISPERS IN THE DARK, the first in her DARK series. Sgt. Dominique Rue drops out of her hectic job and city life to move to a small Eastern Shore town. While she wallows in her pain of her losing her work and personal partner, she doesn't expect to live next door to an incredibly handsome, if not nosey, male neighbor.
Jericho Wolfe is home for the summer after teaching in the university all year. When he finds a delectable new neighbor who won't give him the time of day, he gets more and more curious and intrigued by her. But the woman's need to find the man who killed her partner and lover keeps a wedge between her and Jericho.
I'm glad I read this book by Denise P. Jeffries. She knows how to tell an exciting tale, and interweave interesting characters throughout. The ending had me glued to my seat until I finished the whole book. I can't wait for the next installment to this series!

peace with ghosts from their individual pasts and prepare for a
future together.
Denise P. Jeffries' WHISPERS IN THE DARK is part love story, part
mystery/suspense. The storyline moves a little too rapidly, in terms
of plot and character development, but the overall reading
experience was enjoyable.
